Flanigan’s is easy to find in the small town of Bertram alongside the railroad tracks that run through town. On one side of the street you’ll find the production facility and on the other side of the street, you’ll find the Iron Star Hall building originally built as a lumber and hardware store in 1904. Iron Star Hall was even used for movie scenes throughout the years including the 1998 movie “The Newton Boys”, now is the home of the tasting room for Flaningan’s Distillery & Winery. Established in 1935, the people of Bertram met to discuss the opening of a new modern theatre. Without a formal name, the “New Theatre” opened to a packed house on August 20, 1935. On October 23, 1935, a contest prize of $25 was given to a local for suggesting a more permanent name, The Globe Theatre. As new owners came and went, the Globe continued to play movies until it’s last showing in the early 1980’s. It lay dormant until 2009 when purchased by the current owners. Through a long 6 year restoration process, the Globe reopened in the fall of 2015 and a formal (re)Grand Opening was held on February 27, 2016 with two sold-out live music performances. Blending modern conveniences with historic art deco architecture, the Globe Theatre now features Live Music, Classic Movies, and Special Events. Come out for the day, the night, or the weekend – this is a must see destination in the Hill Country!
