Manor is located 12 miles northeast of Austin on U.S. Highway 290 and is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area which continues to be regarded by most as the best choice in Texas, with a balance of a strong economy, good education, attractive housing, a relatively pleasant climate, and plenty to do.
Manor is poised to see explosive residential growth as its proximity to Austin, its affordable land, and its location to IH35 and the SH130 toll-road set the stage for this growth. Many new subdivisions offer a variety of housing types for first-time home buyers to retirees. In 2018 Manor was listed as the 7th fastest-growing suburb in the US and in 2019 the city was named the 20th best small suburb in America. Nearby major tech employers, in the northeast Austin Corridor, include Dell, Samsung, Ebay, and Nintendo.
In 2018 the city of Manor opened Timmerman Park with the launching of ManorPalooza. The annual festival on the 18-acre park grounds located within the Village at Manor Commons residential neighborhood include live music, a carnival and a food truck court. Other city parks, for outdoor family fun, include Jennie Lane Park in downtown Manor, the site of community events, outdoor summer movies and farmers’ markets and the 273 acre East Metropolitan Park features a swimming pool, playground, disc golf course, basketball court, sports fields and stocked ponds with fishing piers.
